What you need is a stay with Ted and Jane Hutchinson in their beautiful home on the Puget Sound in Washington. Last May, I was privileged to stay with them for a long weekend where I experienced their expertise, loving care, wisdom, discussions and fun.
I was in need of rest from family stresses and my own full ministry regimen. Jane and Ted gave me my own beautiful bedroom and all the 'sleep in' time I needed. The schedule was flexible enough to allow me to also have a nap in the afternoons. My physical needs were also met with delicious meals that these two accomplished cooks whipped up, including recipes they knew I would like but had never tasted.
I was in need of a listening ear. Because I am in ministry, I am often privileged to care for and listen to others. This is a joy to me! But this was my time to be heard. This is one of the things Ted and Jane do the best. They are thoughtful, careful listeners and in the course of our four days together, they responded lovingly, forthrightly and helpfully to my words. We had in depth discussions that were not threatening but insightful and scriptural. I truly felt they gave me
God's wisdom and encouragement.
I was in need of diversion. Ted and Jane escorted me to the wharf area of Seattle where I experienced the fish market (gigantic whole fish, mind you!), famous Seattle coffee and tea (on a rainy day, it really tastes good), and many new sights and sounds that refreshed and energized my
spirit. We walked in the rain and visited the quaint waterfront of Edmonds where the shoreline vista can speak God's beauty and power to the wounded heart.
Physically, spiritually, emotionally Ted and Jane ministered to me. I am so thankful for them and their avenue of service in Jesus' name. May He continue to fill them and use them as His skillful vessels in the lives of many. (I know I'll be back!)”
